‘A New Chapter for Hastings Castle and the West Hill Visitor Centre’ is the title of a newly created YouTube channel, dedicated to documenting the transformation of the West Hill Café site and Hastings Castle.
A five-minute promotional film introduces the vision for the Hastings Castle and West Hill Project, showcasing plans which will see the existing West Hill Café building replaced with a modern visitor centre, café and restaurant, forming a key part of the Town Deal-funded project. The new facilities are designed to improve the visitor experience while supporting the long-term conservation and future of one of Hastings' most important historic landmarks.
Troika Projects, the new operators of Hastings Castle and the delivery partner for the West Hill Project, are launching the YouTube channel, which will provide regular behind-the-scenes updates, milestone videos and interviews with the project team and partners as the project develops. The channel will give the community the opportunity to follow the transformation of Hastings Castle and the West Hill Project, including the build of the new visitor centre as it unfolds.
A short preview of the film is available to watch below, offering a first look at the vision for the project.

Celia Farrar, of Troika Projects, said: “Hastings Castle is such an important part of the town's history, and we wanted this film to help people understand not just what we're building, but why it matters. It tells the story behind the Hastings Castle and West Hill Project, explains the vision for the new visitor centre, and gives some context to the investment that's being made in the site. As work progresses, our YouTube channel will take people behind the scenes, sharing the milestones, challenges and successes along the way, so everyone can follow this exciting new chapter for the castle and West Hill site.”
Graham Peters, Chair of the Hastings Town Deal Board, said: “A New Chapter for Hastings Castle and the West Hill captures the vision and ambition behind one of the Town Deal's flagship regeneration projects. This is an inspiring opportunity to reimagine one of Hastings' most iconic landmarks, creating a destination that honours its remarkable heritage while looking confidently to the future. I hope the film will spark curiosity, stimulate conversation and give people a real sense of the exciting transformation ahead.”
The film will be released on the project team’s new YouTube channel in the coming weeks, with further videos documenting key milestones throughout the construction of the new visitor centre and wider improvements to the historic site.
Councillor Julia Hilton, Deputy Leader of Hastings Borough Council and lead councillor for Shaping Places and Local Government Reorganisation, said “This project represents a significant investment in the future of Hastings Castle and the West Hill site. The film gives residents, businesses and visitors the opportunity to understand the vision for the site and to follow its transformation as work progresses. The new visitor centre will help create a more welcoming and accessible destination, ensuring that one of Hastings' most important heritage assets can be enjoyed for generations to come."
