New online community engagement platform launches

A new community engagement platform asking for your views on council projects has been launched.

The CitizenLab Platform is an online community engagement website that gives residents the chance to have their say on projects in the town. It gives people the chance to interact and share their views and ideas on projects shaping the future of Hastings and St Leonards.

Hastings Town Deal is one of the first programmes being shared on the platform. As content is uploaded, projects will begin to actively engage the community through interactive maps, polls, surveys and more, so make sure that you visit the site in the coming weeks to add your contribution. More projects will be added to the site as it develops.

The Council’s work to tackle the Climate Emergency is also on the platform with everyone encouraged to get involved by contributing their ideas, knowledge and feedback on the Climate Action Plan. The aim is to involve the whole community in climate action. Residents and businesses are invited to share their ideas and projects on a community map. The map will give everyone a better idea of what is happening locally and is a space to share ideas, projects and initiatives in the town that can help to create a better, low carbon future for Hastings. The aim is to ensure Hastings is doing everything it can to reduce the impact of climate change locally and on the planet while encouraging the community to play their part to help the Council meet its Net Zero Carbon target by 2030.

To get involved in the discussion and have your voice and ideas heard, you should visit https://hastings.citizenlab.co and register for an account.

Cllr Kim Forward, leader of the council, said:

“This online platform is an all in one tool to engage residents and find out their thoughts on a range of different topics and projects. The Town Deal and climate change are two of the biggest projects that will impact our town in the coming years and if there are ideas you want to share with us, please get involved and sign up.”
